The Inauguration of the Violence Meter Project

On 17.03.2022, the Interdisciplinary Team joined the debate on violence prevention held by the First Club of Soroptimist International in Wrocław and the Plakaciary or Poster Girls movement. The debate was a kick-off event for the Violence Meter project. The Violence Meter is a combined prevention, education, and help tool for preventing family violence aimed mainly at young people. The project will include the following components:

  1. Bookmark:
for recognising violent behaviour on the part of the partner. The ruler on the bookmark has behaviours that intensify as the numbers grow to quickly recognise a healthy or violent relationship.
  2. Portal for education and information:
the website will offer a Violence Meter bookmark file for download and distribution and a visualisation of behaviours on the ruler. Furthermore, the website will collect information for people searching for help and witnesses of violence. Those who provide help will find the educational section interesting.
  3. The alarm and help app:
for directly contacting professional help during a nervous breakdown.

Violence Meter

was designed in Latin America and introduced in France in 2019 by the mayor of Paris, International Observatory on Violence against Women in Saint-Denis, and En Avant Toute(s).
